Is there a difference between 'Text' and 'SMS'?
Yes, the maximum length of Text you can send totals 918 characters (including spaces) or 6x SMS. You will be charged for each SMS, with a single SMS limit of 160 characters. However, if you send more than 160 characters then your message will be broken down into multiple SMS as they route across the mobile networks before being sent to the recipient’s mobile handset and combined as a single Text. This is called 'concatenated' SMS. Most mobile handsets will join multiple SMS together and present a single Text for the recipient to view, but not in all cases, and you should be mindful of this when sending long messages. Each concatenated SMS is limited to 153 characters, rather than 160 due to the need for user-data headers (UDH) information. Mobile phones use UDH information to enable them to link long messages together so they appear as single Text.
